At first look, ECC has everything all parents are looking for in a preschool program: highly qualified staff, a variety of class offerings, and kid-friendly facilities. This is what got us to start attending ECC. What got us to stay was the care they took for our entire family. Nothing creates chaos and doubt in the heart of a person quite like parenting small children. I had 3 children under the age of 4 when we began attending ECC, and frankly, I was kind of a wreck. The staff at ECC were not only kind and caring with my children, but they also worked hard to form a partnership with our entire family. The teachers were kind and gracious to me when I had questions or concerns (or showed up with a child not wearing shoes.) This idea that "we're all in this together" extended beyond the classroom and to the relationships with the other ECC parents. On those days when I was attempting to hug my three year old good bye while also carrying a fussy infant and trying to corral a running toddler, the other parents were supportive and helpful. We're in our third year with ECC, and we plan to be here for three more years. There is constant and open communication about my child's social, emotional, and academic progress. The staff frequently ask about the well-being and progress of my oldest child who has moved on to elementary school and about my youngest who has yet to enroll. The staff have created an open and friendly environment that pours out into the relationships between the class parents. Not only do my children feel loved at ECC but I feel welcomed and cared for too.
